"Our family computer is a Dell desktop running Windows 8. My wife and I are both registered as users and we both use Chrome. Several weeks ago she tried to download an ebook. She seems to unwittingly have downloaded a load of crap and our internet use was compromised by lots of popups, redirects and bogus notifications regarding security threats. A lot of the crud has now been removed but we are still compromised by multiple redirects and bogus security alerts, especailly Searchonme( search.searchonme.com). I'm really struggling with this nasty homepage and really want to avoid doing a factory reset. I would be very appreciative of any advice you can offer."
