Removal of scan.applesoftsecurity.com Fake Security Alert

I acquired the virus Scan.applesoftsecurity.com by googling the name after the virus showed up on my windows 7. It locks up my browser, Edge, and prevents downloading new virus definitions. Shut downs don't effect it. The message asserts a serious issue with your computer that can be corrected by their "Microsoft trained technicians" and repeats a phone number 5 times as the only source of help.
